Starting home aquarium fish. this is quite a matter of responsibility that will require your continued participation. It all starts with the arrangement of the aquarium, with the addition of water, soil and other accessories. And, of course, from the launch of the fish there.
Where it all begins
First, it would not be superfluous to study the special literature. It is also necessary to decide which type of aquarium you want to purchase. Secondly, you need to understand what kind of fish will be there. But buying all at once is not worth it. First you need to stock up on the technical part. This should be the aquarium itself with filters and aerator. Take care of the light, heater and thermometer. Then buy soil and plants. If the aquarium is large and you also plan to place vegetation in it, then it will be good to buy snails that will clean the aquarium. Thus, you will immediately take care of the issue of turbidity of water, which often becomes a big problem and even the cause of illness and death of the inhabitants of your aquarium. In short, for the fish you need to fully prepare their home.
After installing the aquarium, it is necessary to fill it in the soil, previously washed. Then you need one third to fill the tank with ordinary separated water from the water supply system. Next, the equipment is installed, after which you can plant the plants and decorate the bottom with relief stones or other special sculptures and snags. Then the rest of the water is poured and the equipment is connected. If a cat is usually launched into a new apartment, then already at this stage, snails can be the first to launch into a new water kingdom.
Run the fish in the aquarium
You can buy fish immediately after the water in the aquarium becomes transparent. Be sure in the process of selecting fish, pay attention to their compatibility. It is very important that they can live in the same conditions, taking into account the temperature and hardness of water, lighting and other parameters. Try to avoid overcrowding in the aquarium, this can lead to undesirable consequences, and you just lose some of your water pets.
Fish should be purchased as close as possible to the house, as they are extremely difficult to tolerate long-term transportation. And after you bring them home, do not rush to immediately drop into the aquarium. Before a fish is launched into its permanent place of residence, it must adapt to new conditions, namely to aquarium water. Therefore, in the tank to which the fish is located, it is necessary to install an aerator and then pour water from the aquarium into it. Dosages should be 20% every 10 minutes. After the water is completely changed in the tank, repeat this procedure again, and drain the excess, “waste” water down the drain. It will require no more than two hours. And only then the fish from the tank can be relocated to the aquarium with a net. Just make sure that the difference between the water in the aquarium and in the tank is not more than two degrees Celsius. And also be careful that the water from the tank does not unexpectedly end up in the aquarium, as it may contain pathogenic bacteria. Also, the tank itself, the net and the aerator should be perfectly clean. Rinse them before carrying out all procedures and after you finish everything.
Also, do not immediately run all the fish that you purchased, respectively, better and buy it in batches, if you have a large aquarium. Start the settlement with small species of one. two fish, depending on its size. If you are launching in batches, then at least one week should elapse between each, and it is even better to wait about two weeks.
The fish also need some time to get used to new living conditions and survive stress. So do not be alarmed if they for some time become clogged under a plant or filter. Let a little come to their senses. Then you can feed them a little bit. And in a few days you can enjoy your new aquarium with its inhabitants.
